It is a matter of perception that richest farmer will be the one tilling the land. He would be running tractors and harvesters around large farms.

When a celebrated magazine prints his profile, he would pose in farmer jumpsuit, holding hay rake with granary tower in the background, overlooking vast expanse of farmland.

We are all wrong!

According to Forbes magazine, the richest farmer in the United States is a self-described nerd.

He owns 2,42,000 acres of farmland across the country. Well, he is no other than Bills Gates.

The farms, which Mr. Gates owns, span over 18 states. Some of them are in Louisiana (69,071 Acres), Arkansas (47,927 Acres), Nebraska (20,588 Acres).

Though Bill Gates is the biggest farmland Owner in the USA, there are other landowners, even the richest will envy of.

Liberty Media Chairman, John Malone owns 2.2 million acres of forest and ranches.

CNN Founder, Ted Turner owns 2 million acres across 8 states.

Amazon CEO, Jeff Bezos owns 420,000 acres mostly in Texas.

Future be told, for an image of wealthy farmer when published in textbooks, it should be a nerd, or salesman or a media tycoon but not a traditional land tilling peasant.
